Auto-orient an STL for printing

Try hundreds of orientations and keep the one that needs the least support, is sturdiest or fastest. Whatever needs support shows in red. All in your browser.

What this tool does

  • Tries hundreds of orientations: the model's largest flat faces, the six axes and directions spread over the whole sphere.
  • Four priorities: balanced, least support, fastest (the lowest height) or sturdiest (the most area on the bed).
  • Works out support with your printer's overhang angle and measures with rays how far each overhang really drops, to the bed or to the part itself.
  • Paints in red the faces that will need support, so you can pick an orientation where the face that matters stays clean.
  • Warns when the turned part does not fit your printer's bed and downloads the turned model as STL or 3MF.
  • Takes STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB, 3MF, STEP and more; everything runs in your browser, without uploading the file.

How it works

  1. 01

    Load the model

Drop your file or try the sample lighthouse. The tool analyzes it on a background thread, without freezing the page.

  2. 02

    Choose what matters

Balanced, least support, fastest or sturdiest, and the angle from which your slicer adds support. The list shows support grams, base area and height for every option.

  3. 03

    Download it turned

See in red what will need support, fine-tune with 90° turns if you like, and get the STL or 3MF already resting on the bed.
